India is the only country, which saw five per cent economic growth even after global recession hit the world, a British Diplomat said.

As the recession has taken toll of almost all economies across the world, India not only survived the meltdown, but also witnessed a growth of five per cent and above, whereas other economies grew by two to two and half per cent, Mike Nithavrianakis, British Deputy High Commissioner, Chennai said.

Maharashtra, NCR attract over 50% of FDI in India.

Maharashtra and National Capital Region have cornered over 50% of the foreign direct investment inflows into the country since April 2000, according to the industry ministry data.

Maharashtra attracted maximum foreign inflows at $61.13 billion, about 33% of total FDI inflows during April 2000 - October 2012.

Delhi's National Capital Region (NCR) including parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, received $35.4 billion foreign direct investment during the period.

NCR accounted for 19% of the country's total FDI.

During the period, India received $185.7 billion foreign inflows, according to the data.

According to experts, the main reason for the maximum inflows into Maharashtra and NCR is substantial improvement in the infrastructure and pro-active approach of the respective governments.

"Infrastructure in these areas have improved considerably and that is making them attractive destination for foreign investment," an official said.

Karnataka attracted the third highest FDI inflows worth $10.25 billion during the period, followed by Tamil Nadu ($9.6 billion), Gujarat ($8.53 billion), Andhra Pradesh ($7.41 billion) and West Bengal ($2.04 billion).

Sectors, which attracted maximum FDI include services, telecommunication, metallurgical industries, power, computer hardware and software, and construction activities.

The highest FDI of $70.9 billion came from Mauritius followed by Singapore ($18.4 billion), UK ($17 billion), Japan ($13.83 billion) and the US ($10.8 billion) during April 2000 - October 2012.

The government is making sustained efforts to make the FDI policy regime more attractive and investor friendly, with a view to attract investments from all major investing nations.

The government had liberalised FDI policy in several important sectors like multi-brand retail, aviation, power exchanges and broadcasting.

During April-October this fiscal, India has attracted FDI worth $14.7 billion as against $25.3 billion in the same period last year.

Maharashtra to have world's biggest solar power station ,to be operational from 20 March,2013:
The Dhule-based solar power plant which is expected to generate 150 MW power is likely to be made operational from March 20 this year. The first phase would add 50 MW power to the state grid, said government officials.The solar panels spread over 350 hectares of barren land will have 'thin film' and 'crystalline' technology based photovoltaic cells. The aim is to maximize the output from the solar panels. The efficiency of the power panels is 20% of the total heat absorption.

ऊसासारख्या पाचपट पाणी लागणार्‍या पिकासाठी जास्त उपसा झाल्याने पश्‍चिम महाराष्ट्रात तीव्र दुष्काळ असल्याचा गौप्यस्फोट पाणी पुरवठा व स्वच्छतामंत्री प्रा. लक्ष्मण ढोबळे यांनी केला.
राज्यातील दुष्काळाची स्थिती आणि सरकारने केलेल्या उपाययोजनांविषयी ते पत्रकारांना सांगत होते.
राज्यात सर्वपक्षीय पुढार्‍यांचेच साखर कारखाने जास्त आहेत. सहकारी कारखाने बंद पडल्यास पुढारी स्वत:चे खासगी कारखाने काढत आहेत. त्यामुळे यावर उघड बोलायला कुणी तयार नाही. पाण्याचा उपसा कमी असल्याने गोंदिया, गडचिरोली सारख्या जिलत एकाही गावांत पाणी टंचाई नाही, असे स्पष्टीकरण त्यांनी केले.
आज घडीला १५ दुष्काळग्रस्त जिलंसह राज्यात १६२0 टँकर्स सुरू आहेत. यापैकी १५ जिलतील ८८ तालुके, ९७५ गावे आणि ४७0३ वाड्यात टंचाईसदृश्यस्थिती असून त्याठिकाणी ९९६ खासगी आणि १७६ सरकारी असे ११७२ टँकर्सद्वारे पाणी पुरविण्यात येत आहे. आतापर्यंत यावर मार्च अखरे १९ कोटी रूपये खर्च झालेला आहे. शिवाय शासनाने सुरू केलेल्या हेल्पलाईनवर तक्रारींचा पाऊस पडत असून आतापर्यंत २६९ तक्रारी प्राप्त झाल्या असून त्याचे निवारण करण्यात आले आहे. ज्या भागात टँकर्सची कमतरता आहे, त्या विभागात पाणी पुरविण्यासाठी परराज्यातून टँकर्स मागविण्यात आले आहेत.

- सरकारने राज्यात ६६ अतिशोषित विभाग जाहीर केले असून त्यात रावेर, मंगळवेढा, जत, विटा सारख्या भागांचा समावेश आहे.
- राज्यात एकूण ९९१ नळपाणी पुरवठा योजना आहेत. त्यापैकी ५४८ सुरू असून ८३ योजनांचे काम प्रगतीपथावर आहे. तर १५४ योजना कायमस्वरूपी बंद पडल्या असून त्या कधीही सुरू होऊ शकणार नाहीत.
- सुरू होऊ शकणार्‍या ५८ योजनांचे सरकारने पुनरूज्जीवन केले आहे.
- ठाणे जिलतील मोखाडा तालुक्यात पाणी योजनेच्या कामावर एका महिलेचा मृत्यू झाल्याची घटनाखेदजनक आहे. मात्र, याला पाणी पुरवठा खाते जबाबदार नाही.
- निरी संस्थेने ना गेल्या वर्षभरापासून ना हरकत प्रमाणपत्र न दिल्याने ती एक कोटी ४५ लाखांची ही योजना रखडली होती. हा संपूर्ण खर्च
