Congratulations 👏👏
Mount Frey is not just a mountain for me. It's a sanctum to which I dreamt to pay my homage for the last two and a half years to honor the memories and efforts of Sir Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and George Frey, after whom the mountain got its name. This is not an easy climb and as I reached the base camp of HMI on April 10, I was more than mesmerized by a single glimpse of this beautiful mountain. I had definitely seen a lot of photographs but standing there and watching this magnanimous mountain in front me was beyond comparison to anything I've ever felt.
As I mentioned, it is not an easy climb. The steep slopes, exposed route and loose rocks were among the major challenges to reach the summit. At one point I started reconsidering my years long dream. The doors had not yet opened for us. Weather was not very clear to attempt such a technical peak. Everyday I stood there asking it to call me while training hard for 12 days until the summit push day.
Then on 23rd of April, we finally found a comparatively clear window and a total of 9 trainees made it to the top of Mount Frey (5830 metres). And to this day I cannot believe I was among the lucky ones.
My dream was turned into reality. I paid my respects to the mountain and couldn't thank it enough to allow me to reach the top.
My hard work had paid off. And as Greg Davis has rightly said, "If you want something badly enough, you go for it." Believe me, you'll be proud of yourself and there is nothing like it. So take that risk. Live your life. I know I did.
