Juice Jacking SCAM Exposed I Data theft through Public charging points USB Charger Scam
Hey everyone — welcome back to the channel! Today we’re exposing a sneaky scam you might end up falling for if you’re not careful: the ‘free’ public-USB charger with a hidden catch. It’s called juice jacking, and it can silently steal your data when you least expect it.
WHAT IT IS
“Juice jacking happens when you plug your phone or tablet into a public USB port (like at an airport, hotel, café or bus stand) and that port or cable has been tampered with so that it’s not just charging your device — it’s also transferring data or installing malware.
HOW IT WORKS
A hacker either rigs a charging station (or cable) so that when you plug in, your device appears to just charge, but actually the data lines are active and they can:
steal your contacts, photos, login credentials, banking details.
install malware or spyware that gives them ongoing access to your device.
You don’t necessarily see anything happening — your phone just charges, but behind the scenes the data channel is hijacked.
