Can you get Bonus Shares, Split Shares, and Accumulated Dividends from old physical shares?
Yes! When you recover old physical shares, you don’t just get the original shares — you also get everything the company issued over the years 📈💰
✅ 1. Bonus Shares
YES, you get all bonus shares declared by the company since the day the investor originally bought the shares.
Bonus issues are automatically credited during the recovery process.
Example:
If your father held 100 shares and the company gave 1:1 bonus twice → you may get 400 shares today.
✅ 2. Stock Split
If the company did a split (e.g., face value from 10 to 1), your share quantity increases.
So, old certificates reflect the original quantity, but the current entitlement is much higher.
Example:
10 shares of FV ₹10 → becomes 100 shares after 1:10 split.
✅ 3. Accumulated Dividends
You can claim:
✔️ Unclaimed dividends for the last 7 years from the company
✔️ Older dividends (beyond 7 years) are transferred to IEPF, and you can claim them through IEPF-5.
All unpaid and accumulated dividends are recoverable.
✨ In Short:
✔️ Bonus shares → Yes, fully recoverable
✔️ Split shares → Yes, fully credited
✔️ Accumulated dividends → Yes, claimable from company + IEPF
Recovering physical shares often gives much more value than what’s printed on the old certificate.
