40 LPA job offer means 3 Lakh monthly salary, right?
WRONG.

Here's why.

Most freshers don't understand the difference between CTC and In-hand salary.

Here's an example of what your 40 LPA job offer actually looks like.

* Base salary: 12 Lakhs
* Joining bonus: 6 Lakhs
* Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOPs): 15 Lakhs
* Performance bonus: 4 Lakhs
* Retention bonus: 1 Lakh
* Allowances: 2 Lakhs

Let's break down each component:

* Base salary: in-hand salary (1L/month, 85k post tax).
* Joining bonus: one-time, only for the 1st year.
* ESOPs: equity shares of the company are given.
* Performance bonus: for achieving all target metrics.
* Retention bonus: given when you stay for 1 or 2 years.
* Allowances: include meal vouchers and travel claims.

What seems like a 3L/month salary is actually 95k/month in year 1 and 82k/month from year 2.

Most people plan their lifestyle with CTC in mind, and get stuck financially when reality hits.

The budget has been focused on more income with the individuals and a lot of waivers.
Giving relief through rebate is a smart move as such rebates can be later on withdrawn.
Let’s see the new income tax bill that comes up next week.
It will pave the way for advancement of personal tax in interest of the public.

Also to note, election impact will be greater than budget impact on the markets.

Overall a decent budget.
Withdrawal of BCD on various goods is a welcome move.

If RBI brings in a rate cut and Delhi elections are won by BJP, we may soon see markets soaring.
