MADCom Activities
MADCom is the Merchandising and Design Committee of The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, Kerala, India. It is a group of 12 IIMK students (6 of 1st year and 6 of 2nd year) responsible for all the merchandise coming to the IIMK campus. Our activities can broadly be divided into 3 categories namely Designing, Merchandising (IIMK related) and other activities. DESIGNING
T
he MADCom design team designs all the IIMK related merchandise. The work of the design team can be broken into 2 broad categories:
�Merchandise designing
This includes designing apparels, drink ware, key chains, bags, folders, etc. We design not only the general IIMK merchandise but also for various other committees and interest groups of IIMK. Last year we designed T-shirts for events like Horizons, Synapse and Nostalgia. We also designed various other merchandise like diaries, calendars etc for the same. Other independent apparel designing like IIMK sweatshirts, batch t-shirts and IIMK tagged t-shirts were also designed by us in the same period. MADCom not only designs all the above mentioned merchandise, but also arranges the purchase, printing, payment and delivery of all of them.
�Non Merchandise designing
The non-merchandise related design includes designing posters, backdrops, brochures, etc for various committees. Our team also does some animation and video editing work as per the requirement of the committees. Last year we designed banners, posters and backdrops for Horizons, Synapse and Nostalgia. Among other activities, we also designed publicity brochures for Backwaters and SSG and invitation cards for Nostalgia. MERCHANDISING
The merchandise team strives to provide the best quality merchandise at best rates to the IIMK residents. The team handles mainly 2 kinds of work:
�Customized Merchandise
The merchandising team handles the supply and logistics side of the customized IIMK merchandise. Fixing the supplier, deciding the material, negotiating the price, handling the logistics for supply and distribution are some of the activities which this team handles. This work is in co-ordination with the design team.
�General Merchandise
This side of the work relates to general merchandise deals. They include bean bags, calculators, laptops, computer accessories, etc. The sheer volume of these deals, in monetary terms, is larger than any other merchandise deal taking place in IIMK. Some of the deals
- Customized apparels : Sweat-Shirts, Jackets, polo t-shirts, round neck t-shirts
- Customized mugs, key-rings, calendars
- Laptops
- Laptop Accessories : Hard Disks, Speakers, Headphones, Mouse, Keyboard etc,
- Bean Bags
- CFA calculator and material, Scientific Calculators
- Postpaid mobile connection deal with Vodafone
OTHER ACTIVITIES
�Bank loan for students
MADCom is responsible for handling the education loans of over 600 IIMK students. The aim of this initiative is to provide cheapest and most reliable loan to all IIMK students. We negotiate with banks, bring them face to face with the students and with majority voting, finalize the deal for IIMK students. This is handled by the MADCom team along with a few volunteers from the junior batch.
�MADCom STORE
The MADCom store at H Hostel top floor serves as the Shoppers' stop (single point solution) for all merchandising needs of the students, faculty, MDP and FDP participants, and other guests visiting the campus. Students and faculty can visit the store, which is run by the MADCom team, and purchase IIMK customized apparels, mugs, calendars etc.
�Misc
MADCom also handles Courier Deal for the outgoing batch to help them take back their luggage to desired locations, be it their home or workplace
K life begins with MADCom through laptop deal and bank loans.....& it ends with MADCom helping you pack and courier your luggage back :)
