Missing one SIP instalment isn't the end of your investment journey.

Here's what usually happens if your SIP bounces:

✔ No mutual fund units are purchased for that month's instalment.

✔ Your existing investments remain invested and continue to participate in market movements.

✔ Mutual fund companies generally do not charge a penalty for a missed SIP.

✔ However, your bank may levy an ECS/NACH bounce charge, typically ranging from ₹250 to ₹750 + applicable taxes, depending on the bank.

✔ If you miss three consecutive SIP instalments, the mutual fund house may cancel your SIP mandate.

If you're expecting a temporary cash crunch, it's generally better to pause or stop your SIP in advance rather than allowing repeated payment failures.

You can always start a fresh SIP when your finances are comfortable again.
