Today

Indian stocks opened on a firm note this morning, with investors taking fresh positions on the back of a positive lead from global markets.

Easing worries about U.S. interest rate hikes pushed up stocks on Wall Street overnight and markets across Asia opened higher this morning, setting up a firm start for stocks back home. Investors are also betting on hopes the Government will speed up reforms to revive growth.

The BSE benchmark Sensex, which soared to 27,010.27 in opening trades, gaining about 225 points, is currently up 116.01 points or 0.43% at 26,901.56. The Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange is up 30.25 points or 0.36% at 8149.55, after rising to 8180.95 earlier.

The Market, which opened on an upbeat note on global cues this morning, remains high up in positive territory now, due to sustained buying at several counters.

Easing worries about U.S. interest rate hikes following the release of a weak jobs growth data pushed up stocks on Wall Street and Friday and set up a bright start for Asian markets today. Taking cues, the Indian stock market is also trading firm.

The Sensex is up 391 points or 1.5% at 26,611.95, while the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange is up 111.65 points or 1.4% at 8062.55.
