On Rathyatra, Let Them Move Too..
Today, as we celebrate Rathyatra, a festival that symbolizes divine movement, grace, and the journey of Lord Jagannath, I am reminded of those beings on our streets whose journeys have come to a standstill—not by choice, but by accident, neglect, or cruelty.
Stray animals with spinal injuries or broken hips are often left immobile, crawling through life, invisible to most. Their pain is silent, their suffering constant. And unfortunately, the cost of animal wheelchair makes them inaccessible for most rescuers and caregivers.
A few days ago, one such paralyzed dog stood up again... I got a fully customised, sturdy, adjustable wheelchair made, and when we strapped him in, he could run. Not just walk. Run. Mischievously, joyfully. That moment reminded me that movement is life....for gods, for humans, and for animals.
