While preparing GSTR1 through offline utility:-

1.While preparing GSTR instead of the single Excel Template, filing of Section wise CSV files will be better as we would be able to know where the errors are while uploading.
2.All numbers mentioned in the sheet should be in uniform format. Either upto 2 decimal places or rounded off.
3. Invoice value and number should be repeated for multiple tax rate items. Eg. If your invoice with number A/01 is of ₹ 1000, comprising of 5% item ₹300 and 12% item ₹700. Then you have to write A/01 as invoice number and invoice value as ₹ 1000 against 5% and 12% item entry.
4. After uploading the file to the portal, if there is any error, like party GST number mistake, an error file will get generated. You can download that and open it using Offline Utility Tool to correct it and re upload it.

For those receipt of goods or services, on which tax needs to be paid on reverse charge mechanism, tax invoice needs to be raised by recipient, and those details needs to be shown in GSTR 2 and not in GSTR 1.

“Failed to establish connection to emsigner, please restart emsigner”.

One of the major issues faced by all while filing GSTRs is the Emsigner error “Failed to establish connection to emsigner, please restart emsigner”.

Before going to the solution, all you need to ensure is that your system should have Windows 7 OS and Chrome 49+ browser. Even though the site is not insisting for that, as per my experience, emsigner is working only in windows 7. You can try it on 8 or 8.1.
1.Open Google Chrome and type in https://127.0.0.1:1585 on the URL tab,
2. A screen showing that your connection is not private will be displayed. Go to Advanced tab and Press Proceed.
3. Close the Chrome browser after that and reopen it. Now you will be able to sign, as the connection to the port in which emsigner is setup is open now.
