🚨 RBI has hiked the repo rate by 25 basis points, from 5.25% to 5.50%.
But what does this actually mean if you already have a loan?
If your loan is linked to a floating external benchmark and the rate resets, your borrowing cost can increase. Depending on your lender and loan terms, this could mean a higher EMI, a longer loan tenure, or both.
Before you panic, check three things:
🏦 Your loan’s benchmark and interest rate
đź“… Your reset frequency/date
đź’° Whether your lender changes the EMI, tenure, or both
And if you’re planning to take a new loan, don’t look at just today’s EMI. Check whether your monthly cash flow can comfortably handle a higher interest rate.
The repo rate hike doesn’t automatically mean everyone’s EMI goes up immediately. Your actual impact depends on your loan terms.
