While headlines focus on market volatility, a bigger shift is happening quietly in India’s investment landscape.
Investors are increasingly looking beyond listed equity — and AIFs are one of the clearest signs of that change.
According to our data, India now has 1,730 AIFs, with Category II alone accounting for 953 funds. That tells a strong story about where capital is flowing: private equity, structured opportunities, and long-term value creation.
This matters more today because Indian markets are going through a mixed phase:
foreign selling has remained heavy, the rupee has faced pressure, and oil-linked uncertainty has added to market noise.
Yet domestic participation remains resilient, with equity mutual funds and small-/mid-cap categories continuing to attract strong inflows.
In a market like this, diversification is no longer a strategy.
It is a necessity.
