September 2026 gross GST came in at ₹2,03,521 Cr, up 14.7% YoY. That's the second month in a row at or above the ₹2 lakh crore mark.

ACs, TVs and refrigerators could get costlier this festive season. 📊

What’s driving the price hike?

Several consumer-durable manufacturers are revising prices from October 2026, with reported increases across ACs, TVs, refrigerators and washing machines.

Air-conditioners could see increases of around 5–8%, while TVs and refrigerators may rise by around 3–4% in several cases. The key factors include higher copper, steel and aluminium costs, rising freight expenses, energy costs and currency movements.

But will consumers immediately pay the higher prices?

Not necessarily. Existing dealer inventory purchased at earlier prices could delay the impact of the hikes at retail stores.

SEBI has revised commodity position limits in 2026, bringing important changes for participants in agricultural commodity derivatives.

What has changed?

The revised client-level limits are now linked to deliverable supply and commodity classification:

• Broad commodities: 2% of deliverable supply
• Narrow commodities: 1%
• Sensitive commodities: 0.5%

SEBI has also changed the definition of a broad commodity and revised the penalty structure for position-limit violations.
