A lottery ticket and an insurance policy are built on the exact same science. Same probability. Same bell curve. Same actuaries pricing the same risk. The only real difference is direction.

Your ₹10 crore cyber policy might only pay ₹7 crore.

Most Indian cyber wordings are "costs-inclusive" — legal defence, forensics, and breach response all eat into the same limit that pays the claim. A long investigation, even one that clears you, can quietly drain your indemnity before the actual settlement gets paid.

Two things worth checking on every placement: is your policy costs-inclusive or costs-in-addition, and does it reinstate after a claim? One limit, one policy year — a second incident later in the year can find an empty tower.

Buy the structure, not the number.
