A team from Kshema General Insurance attended a one-day workshop on “Climate-Smart Apple Cultivation: From Forecasts to Farms”, held at the ICAR-IARI Regional Station in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.

The workshop brought together scientists and experts from IIT, Bombay and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), along with officials from the Horticulture Department, agricultural researchers, and progressive apple farmers from across the state. Discussions focused on the growing impact of climate change on apple cultivation in Himachal Pradesh.

During the interaction, Mr Rahul Kapoor, Deputy General Manager – Government Business at Kshema, and Mr Arun Kumar, Deputy State Coordinator – PMFBY (Himachal Pradesh) at Kshema, shared practical insights on how weather-based risk management, insurance awareness, AWS technology, and timely support systems can strengthen farmer confidence and help reduce climate-related losses arising from unseasonal rainfall and shifting snowfall patterns.

The session saw constructive exchanges between scientists, government stakeholders, and farmers, focused on building a more resilient and climate-smart future for apple cultivation. The workshop acted as a platform bringing together science, technology, and farmer welfare to address the evolving challenges in apple cultivation.

The conclave was graced by Shri Kirodi Lal Meena, Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Government of Rajasthan, as the Chief Guest.

Shri Naresh Kumar Goyal, Commissioner, Department of Agriculture, and Shri Rajesh Chauhan, Director, Agriculture Marketing Department, attended the event as Special Guests.

Mr. Nikesh Nandha, AVP–FCU & Regional Head-Rajasthan at Kshema General Insurance participated in a panel discussion on the topic “Fasal Bima Se Ban Sakte Hain Pragatisheel Kisan”. During the discussion, he spoke about the importance of efficient claims management and coordination among insurers, government bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of PMFBY across the state and building lasting trust among farmers.
