The Nifty 50 index crossed the 20,000 mark for the first time on Monday, September 11, 2023, marking a new bull market milestone for the Indian stock market. It closed at 19,996.35, up 176.40 points from the previous day's close. The Sensex also closed higher, rising 528.17 points to 67,127.08.

The rally was led by gains in heavyweight stocks such as Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, and Infosys. The market sentiment was positive on the back of strong corporate earnings, robust economic growth, and positive global cues.

The Nifty 50 index has been on a bull run since June 2023, when it crossed the 19,000 mark. It has gained more than 16% in the past three months.

The crossing of the 20,000 mark is a significant achievement for the Indian stock market.

Indian benchmark indices hit all-time highs!

The Sensex crossed the 67,000 mark, while the Nifty scaled 19,800.

The gains were supported by positive global cues and easing concerns about inflation and a possible recession.

However, analysts cautioned that the gains could be capped by rising inflation and interest rates.

"The market is likely to remain volatile in the near term, as investors will be assessing the impact of rising inflation and interest rates on corporate earnings," said Siddhartha Khemka, head of research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services.

"However, the long-term outlook for the Indian market remains positive, as the economy is expected to grow at a healthy pace in the coming years," he added.
