n 8th January 1989 in the name and the style as “Singerband Maningleikai Youth Welfare Association” at Singerband Cachar Assam. Since its inception, this organization has been involved in various developmental activities along with training programmes. With the objective of attaining the main objects of the Society, to give a suitable brand name and better connectivity with its Stake Holders “Singerband Maningleikai Youth Welfare Association” has been changed to “FORTUNE“(Foundation For Rural Transformation And Economic Upliftment of North East) in the Year 2009 with notification to public places and Office of the Registered of Society Assam, and shifted its H.O at Noonmati, Guwahati . FORTUNE began its microfinance operations in 2009, after realising the constraints of its present the huge potential for growth in future, it was decided to carry on microfinance operations as a core activity of FORTUNE. The organization currently operates in the Kamrup and Cachar district of Assam which includes the capital city of Guwahati. FORTUNE predominantly focuses on urban/semi-urban and rural areas for carrying forward its microfinance operations. North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi), one of the leading support institutions in the NE Region, has also been providing valuable advices to the microfinance entity of FORTUNE. Over the year, FORTUNE has been trying to tie up with other financial institutions for fine-tuning of its microfinance operations.
