The European markets, which opened after a four-day break, are firmly in negative territory on Tuesday as investors reacted to the disappointing U.S. jobs data that was released on Good Friday. Lenders and miners are under pressure.
The Asian markets ended mixed while the U.S. index futures are higher before the beginning of the first-quarter reporting season.
The Euro Stoxx 50 index of eurozone bluechip stocks is declining 1.15 percent, while the Stoxx Europe 50 index, which includes some major U.K. companies, is dropping 0.92 percent.
The German DAX is losing 0.92 percent and the French CAC 40 is falling 1.20 percent. The UK's FTSE 100 is sliding 0.92 percent and Switzerland's SMI is dropping 0.94 percent.
Eurozone investor confidence deteriorated for the first time in four months in April, results of a survey by the think tank Sentix showed. The confidence index came in at -14.7 in April compared to -8.2 in March and -11.1 in February.

Rollovers in Nifty from March to April series were in line with expectation and almost 50-52% positions got rolled in next series as compared to 50% last month. April series started on much lighter note as compared to March series as only 418001 contracts got rolled as compared to 478604 last month. Low open interest
in starting of series clearly indicate that players are skeptical about the markets and expect that markets will continue to trade in narrow band with no significant movement on either side.

Asian shares retreated for a fourth consecutive session on Monday, as weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs data rekindled investor concerns about the pace of recovery in the world's largest economy. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said the economy added 120,000 jobs in March, the smallest increase since October,
while the unemployment rate dropped to the lowest rate in more than three years, mainly because of a decline in the number of people in the labor force.
A lack of directional cues from Europe and the U.S. and data showing a higher-than-expected reading on China's consumer price inflation also weighed on investor sentiment to some extent.
