‘World Polio Day’ is a global event and every Rotary District and Rotary Club in the world will be using the platform to talk about Rotary’s contribution and commitment to ending polio. For us in India, it is even more significant because we will be ending Polio in 2014. It is therefore important that we use, rather I would say, exploit, this day to make Rotary heard and visible in shining light through the End polio Now illuminations of iconic buildings. This ‘illumination’ event on ‘World Polio Day’ will mark the beginning of our Polio-free festivity and it has to be with a bang.
Our District has made arrangements to illuminate iconic heritage buildings and structures on Thursday, 24th October, 2013 and you all shall be pleased to know that INDIA GATE and LAL QUILA shall be illuminated with the message of END POLIO NOW on this day in the evening. It will show and remind all the people about the contribution of Rotary in wiping out polio in India and all over the world. We are also illuminating two buildings in Faridabad with the same message, which is being spearheaded by rotarians of Faridabad Sanskar.
We appeal to all my friends and rotarians of our district to pay a visit to these iconic buildings and structures on 24th October, 2013 in the evening to see the polio message as well as symbolically be a part of this effort by our district to create a strong and positive public image of Rotary and its contribution towards the humanity and society at large as we ' Engage Rotary to Change Lives'.
