📢 **SEBI Update | Intraday Borrowing Facility for Mutual Funds**

SEBI has introduced a significant reform by permitting **intraday borrowing for mutual funds** to address liquidity mismatches arising from differences in market settlement timings.

**Key highlights of the circular:**
✔️ Borrowings permitted for investor payouts, investment pay-ins, settlement obligations, and repayment of existing borrowings.
✔️ Strictly an **intraday facility**—borrowings must generally be repaid by the end of the day.
✔️ Borrowings are linked to same-day receivables, ensuring prudent liquidity management.
✔️ Any cost of intraday borrowing will be borne by the **Asset Management Company (AMC)**, safeguarding investor interests.

📅 Effective Date:**1 September 2026**

The move is expected to improve operational efficiency, facilitate smoother settlement cycles, and strengthen liquidity management across the mutual fund industry while maintaining robust investor protection.
