SEBI has proposed a new MF-only PMS framework with a minimum investment threshold of ₹25 lakh, potentially creating a new space between self-managed mutual fund investing and traditional PMS.
With thousands of mutual fund schemes available, building and managing a portfolio can involve more than simply choosing a fund. Fund selection, asset allocation, portfolio monitoring, and periodic rebalancing all play an important role.
Under the proposed framework, these responsibilities could be managed by a professional portfolio manager, while investments remain restricted to direct plans of mutual funds, ETFs, and Specialized Investment Funds (SIFs).
This is based on SEBI's proposed framework and is subject to final regulations.
