-The surcharge waiver ranges between 1% of the transaction amount.

-Surcharge waiver is not a discount on the fuel cost. It is waiving off the transaction fee levied on fuel purchases.

-All card issuers have a range for which the surcharge waiver deems applicable for every transaction.

-Every card has a maximum capping of the surcharge waiver.

- While paying with a credit card, a surcharge of 1% is charged, which includes transaction fees and service tax.
For example, if you need to fill fuel for Rs.1000 via your credit card, here’s what you need to pay.

Rs.1000+ Fuel Surcharge + GST on surcharge
= Rs.1000 + Rs.10 + Rs.1.8 = Rs.1011.8

- Apple’s ‘Pay Later’ will allow users to pay using Apple Pay in four installments over six weeks without any additional fee.

This feature is available to selected applicants in the United States with the iOS 16 release.

This was announced as a part of the RBI Monetary Policy 2022.



RBI is yet to announce the ‘Merchant Discount Rate (MDR)’ and the usability of this feature by the cardholders.
