In the last 25 years Nifty has dropped from 4% to almost 59% in a year creating an average drop of 18.5% per year in the last 25 years.

Instead of such a huge intra ear drop markets have still given 12.5% of average return in the last 25 years.

We know everyone is saying to be patient but that is what we need to have mobile investing in markets.

Those with cash in hand are suggested to invest and those invested are suggested to just wait patiently.

Are mutual funds only for long term ?

Portfolio red ?

Looking in the current market scenario we see almost everyone's portfolio in red especially those who have started investing a year and half back except those who have exposure to multi asset funds and silver and gold ETF.

But this doesn't mean you should panic due to such uncertain situations globally although your portfolio is not showing any profit.

Few are of the view that equity investment should be switched to old and silver which is not a very wise thing to do.

But if you still wish to have exposure into gold and silver use the surplus amount with you while your equity investments are intact.

Investing in a minors name.

The benefit of investing in a minors name is that the amount invested is somehow much more safer because does an emotional connection that binds us to the commitment that this amount will be either used for our child's education or any of his future goals.

Also the amount invested can be redeem only in the name of minors bank account and not otherwise hence good option from an investment perspective.

It's so good to see that people are getting aware about why financial planning or investment planning is necessary.

Under insurance can cause of huge loss.

So recently there was a claim of building insurance in which the property was valued at 5 crore and insurance was of 5 crore as well but still the claim was settled at 50% of the claim value.

The very first thing we need to understand is that even though the 5 crore insurance and building is of 5 crores as well but we need to understand the number of things we have covered under 5 crores, maybe furniture, fixture, fitting, machineries, plate glass, glow sign board and any other kind of assets.

And if the claim is related to building or a part of the building and the building value is disclosed as 2.5 crores, here if the claim rises the claim will be slashed by almost 50% because the valuation of the property is at 5 crore and the insurance of the building is 2.5 crores here the average clause of insurance act takes place so the quantum of the claim decreases.

Hence it is necessary to have at least 10 to 15% above insurance as that of mentioned in balance sheet.

Had a discussion with the client who had decided to invest Rs 30 lakh in post office mis scheme which earns them Rs 17500 per month at 7.5% per annum and Rs 5 lakhs in mutual fund s w p where as instead those 30 lacs if invested in mutual fund for swp of Rs 17500 per month with 12% return after 5 years leaving them with almost around Rs 40 lakh.

What would you choose amongst these two options ?

A Rs 2000 SIP can make you 130 crore rupees in a time frame of 60 years. Although the time frame seems little impractical but if you listen to Mr Warren buffet even though starting investing at the age of 11 he says he was a little late to start investing.

If an SIP of 2000/- started as soon as the child is born then by the age of retirement the child will be having a hefty sum of 130 crore rupees.

Though the value of 130 crores might not be too much after 60 years but even if it is equivalent to 10 crores of today's value it would still be sufficient.
