“KOL GURU LAKO BODRA” – The Pioneer of “Warang Chiti”, the script for Ho language was born in the village named Paaseya of Singbhum District (KOLHAN), Jharkhand in a MANAKI Family on 19th September 1919. His father’s name was Lebeya Bodra & Mother was Jana Kui. .
He got his primary education at Badcham Hatu School. After completion of primary education he got admitted at PURUIYAN Middle School. He was inspired by the subject “Matru Bhasa ki Mahatwa” Which was written by Acharya Mahaveer Prasad Dwibedi. He then took a promising legendary step to develop a script of his own “Ho” language and to compose Ho literature for the community he belongs to- would feel proud of it. Thereafter, he was sent to GRAMMAR SCHOOL (also known as Anglo-Indian School where Foreigners studied) at Chakradharpur of Jharkhand where, the son- Prince KUONR & daughter -Princess PADMABATI of the King Narapati Singh of Chakradharpur also studied. Due to his extra ordinary talent and knowledge he was counted among the best talented students in the school. He got opportunity to visit PALACE and LIBRARY of the Royal King family. There he started searching for ancient literature and Ho script with his best efforts. He also got supported by Miss Rojlin one of his teacher, who provided the books such as- ‘Mother India’, “History of India” etc. Thus he studied ancient Indian culture and tradition deeply in everyday life. He soon developed his command over Bangla, Odiya, Urdu, Hindi and English during High School period.
Besides Studies, he was also an outstanding Football and a Flute player (RUTU ORONG). He worshipped Gods and Goddesses from his early childhood. He roamed around the jungles, caves and places of ancient historical places. This made his grandmother once sang a song for him as follows:
“Dishum gem hiyating tan, Raiji gem chaka ting tan Buru rubu-rubu ko ge panja jom me”.
While studying his High School at Zilla School, Chaibasa , he met Dishum Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda, who was the great Tribal Leader of Freedom Movement and first Captain of Indian Hockey Team. Also the topper in Indian Civil Services being conducted in London and initiated movement for creation of JHARKHAND STATE. He got influenced by great personality of Marang Gomke and his talent was also recognized by Marang Gomke. Thus he became closer to Jaipal Singh Munda.
During Second World War, he got opportunity to visit Jalandhar (Punjab) with Dishum Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda. There he visited MOHENJO-DARO, HARAPPA and other various part of undivided-India. In Mohenjo Daro and Harappa, he observed DIRI SASAN, ILI MATIA and other evidences by which he believed that Ho (HOLO) people were established there and had their own developed Literature, Script, Bonga-Buru and other social rituals. He got admission into JALANDHAR CITY COLLEGE, Punjab wherein he completed his B.Sc. and a degree in HOMOEPATHY.
Though he started primary education from BADCHAMHATU but graduated from JALANDHAR CITY COLLEGE, Punjab. Thus he got huge opportunity to explore the ocean of the knowledge and excelled his intellect and vision to serve and to establish the history and distinct socio-cultural identity of his own Ho people.
