Numbers will keep changing. GDP will move up and down. Headlines will come and go, and social media will always have a narrative — positive or negative.

But our job as equity researchers is different.

Our job is not to react to every number. Our job is to identify great businesses and generate alpha from them.

Instead of spreading negativity around macro numbers, we should be looking at the bigger picture — Where are the tailwinds? Which sectors are benefiting? Which companies have strong fundamentals? What is the management saying? What does the concall tell us? What do the presentations and guidance indicate?

That is where the real research begins.

Ultimately, we are in the market to create wealth — not to win arguments over GDP numbers.

So, rather than getting trapped in an all-around negative mindset, let's focus on what actually matters:

Identify the right companies. Understand the business. Track the tailwinds. Study management guidance. Read the concalls and presentations. And then look for alpha.

Because at the end of the day, numbers will come and go — but great businesses can create wealth.

Think like a researcher. Focus on businesses, not noise. Focus on alpha, not wrong narratives.
