Congratulations to Adiuvo Diagnostics (a Menterra portfolio company) on successfully deploying Illuminate in Arunachal Pradesh in the presence of the hon'ble Health Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Alo Libang!

Illuminate is a rapid, point of care, handheld device that diagnoses wound infections and does pathogen classification in 100x less time
than the gold standard microbiology culture test, and is highly cost effective.

In total, approximately 1500 patients have been diagnosed till date using Illuminate across 23 hospitals and healthcare centers in India, and 52% of these installations have been in lower performing states on the poverty index as per NITI Aayog's 2021 report.

Menterra Ventures is proud to announce Kozhnosys as the winner of the Menterra Cancer Challenge.

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women, with more than 100,000 new cases reported each year. More than 70% of breast cancer cases present to doctors at advanced stages. In most cases, a delay of this kind has a devastating effect on a patient's treatment and survival.

At 52%, the five-year survival rate in India is one of the lowest in the world. Patients in non-urban areas are twice as likely to die of cancer despite medical advances. Technologies that enable widespread screening are urgently needed to close this gap.

Jilma Peruvangat founded Kozhnosys to solve this cancer screening gap. Their goal is to develop a breath test to detect breast cancer and other diseases using volatile organic compounds as biomarkers.

George Thomas, CEO of Menterra Ventures said that “With a low-cost breath test, cancer screening can be made accessible to everyone, everywhere. This investment fits well with Menterra's mission of developing disruptive technologies to solve unmet needs. The investment marks our fourth consecutive investment in a women-led health technology firm."

We are excited to announce that Menterra Ventures received 50+ applications for the challenge with participation in every problem area. Early screening and diagnosis led the cohort in terms of maximum applications (34%). Preliminary screening has been completed and candidates have been shortlisted for further evaluation.

The selected candidates have undergone one round of clinical and technical validations from experts providing both Menterra Ventures and the companies with deeper insights.
