Namma Auto Project aims to make the environment friendly Auto-rickshaws become the preferred mode of choice for first and last mile transport requirements, while at same time improving livelihood status of auto drivers. The projects intends to Scale up a replicable and inte
grated model of sustainable auto-rickshaw transport, based on clean technologies. This projected is funded by the European Union under the Switch Asia Programme on Promoting Sustainable Consumption and Production and is implemented by ACRA, Enviu, TERI and WHAD in Bengaluru and Chennai. The premise of this project is that an environment friendly solution that addresses the problems faced by the service provider(driver) and customer shall help switch to a more sustainable choice of transport and thereby a sustainable lifestyle among urban residents. - ACRA (Italy): an international NGO with over 4 decades of social development. Its strategy is focused on sustainable development; specifically, inclusive businesses and social enterprises that can effectively deliver sustainable solution. Website: www.acra.it
-ENVIU Foundation (Netherlands): it focuses on designing market based solutions in developing countries. It leads the community building activity that involves organizing the auto-drivers, financial intermediation, capacity building and formation of federative structure of drivers. -WHAD, Women Health And Development (India, Bangalore): non-profit organization with over two decades of community building and development experience. It is responsible for community mobilization and organization of auto-rickshaw drivers in association with Enviu. Website: www.whadindia.org
-TERI (India, Delhi): leading think tank dedicated to conducting research for sustainable development of India and Global South. TERI shall be steering the policy component of the project that involves stakeholder engagement for identifying policy gaps and suggestions, capacity building for policy initiatives and dissemination of key policy outcomes of the project.
