London just witnessed its largest IPO in the last 5 years

The company was Airtel Money, the African fintech giant that happens to be a part of India's Bharti Group

The IPO offer was £529 million (around ₹6,700 crore), making it one of the largest IPOs in UK's recent history

However, Airtel is not the only Indian brand visible in London stock market

You may also find Axis Bank, Reliance Industries, Tata Steel and SBI on the London bourses

Do you know of any other Indian company or brand listed in UK?

The US has announced a pause on new and pending PERM applications at eight tech companies, including TCS, Infosys, Wipro and HCL Technologies.

For the affected Indian IT companies, this could make retaining US-based employees harder, as their path to permanent residency becomes uncertain.

In defence, TCS mentioned that it filed only single-digit PERM applications over the past two years and expects no impact on its workforce strategy or client work.

Did you know there's a federal law in the US dedicated entirely to onions?

Back in the 1950s, traders Sam Siegel and Vincent Kosuga, cornered the Onion Futures Market on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
At one point, they controlled nearly the entire onion supply in Chicago.

Together, they made millions by betting on onion prices to fall, eventually prompting the US government to ban onion futures trading altogether.

Despite this, neither trader was criminally charged, since their actions hadn't broken any federal criminal laws of the time.

NASA is working towards building a permanent base near the Moon’s South Pole.

The plan is to establish a sustained human presence on the Moon, supported by habitats, power systems, surface mobility, cargo missions, and scientific infrastructure.

And India could be part of it.

In August 2026, NASA formally invited ISRO to join its Moon Base programme, building on the India-US partnership under the Artemis Accords.

One man’s waste is another man’s international trip

Used cooking oil is one of the main ingredients used to make Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which can cut lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 80%! It also puts waste oil that could otherwise end up in landfills or sewers to good use.

But SAF still makes up less than 1% of global jet fuel. The problem here is supply. There simply isn’t enough used cooking oil in the world to fuel the global aviation industry.

The US is currently the world’s largest SAF producer. Federal and state incentives are now driving major SAF investments

India too, is now actively working to scale up its SAF efforts

As India moved towards E20, the government estimated that achieving 20% ethanol blending would require around 10.16 GL of ethanol annually for petrol blending alone.

Ethanol supplied for petrol blending is now around 10.22 GL, meeting that estimated requirement, up from just 0.38 GL nearly a decade ago.

At the same time, ethanol production capacity has expanded from 4.21 GL nearly a decade ago to over 20 GL today, with Maharashtra having the highest capacity.

In 2013-14, those 0.38 GL translated into a blending rate of just 1.53%. By November 2025-June 2026, India had reached an average blending level of 20%.

Whenever the government needs to borrow money, a large part of it comes from institutions like banks, insurance companies, pension funds and the RBI.

Governments often spend more than they collect through taxes and other revenues. This gap is financed largely through borrowing, including by issuing government securities.

Government bonds are considered high-quality liquid assets, and banks also hold eligible government securities as part of their regulatory liquidity requirements.

Government securities sit on the central bank's balance sheet too, but for a different reason: the RBI can buy and sell these securities as part of managing liquidity and implementing monetary policy.

India's government debt is lower relative to the size of its economy than several major economies. IMF data puts India's general government debt at around 83% of GDP, compared with about 126% for the US and 204% for Japan.

India’s biggest R&D expenditures are being made on cars, drugs, and defence.

Auto companies are investing in battery technology, EV platforms, software and safety systems. Mahindra & Mahindra, the biggest R&D spender in FY26, spent ₹5,691 crore, up 81% from last year. In FY26, they had a 37.4% revenue share in India’s electric SUV market.

Similarly, in the pharma space, new drugs need years of research, testing and approvals, which is why the sector spends a much bigger share of its revenue on R&D. Listed pharma companies like Dr Reddy’s and Sun Pharmaceuticals spent more than 10% of their turnover on R&D in FY26.

Note: figures used here are based on the standalone financial statements of the respective companies.

Decades after advocating 'Hum Do Humare Do', India is now revisiting the policy.

State govts ranging from Tamil Nadu to Sikkim are now encouraging people to increase their family headcount.

Many Indian states have reported an impending demographic decline due to low fertility rate, something that could affect India's demographic ratio in near future.

It's an unusual situation for the world's most populous country to be in, but India's population problem may soon look different from the one it spent decades trying to solve

Netflix’s stock is having a rough year

As subscriber growth slows, Netflix is trying to become an all-in-one entertainment hub. It has tried expanding into gaming, sports, documentaries, and podcasts, while also pushing content on platforms like YouTube.

But many argue Netflix is diluting its core brand identity, spending billions of dollars annually across new ventures instead of focusing on producing big hits.

Do you think Netflix is going through a temporary slump or at the start of a bigger decline? Would you invest in Netflix?
