Jupiter: effects and importance in Indian astrology

Jupiter, known as ‘Brihaspati’ or ‘Guru’ in Hindi and many other Indian languages, is believed to rule both Moon and Sun and is also believed to control the movement of the planets.

Jupiter is the ruler of the fire sign Sagittarius. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system; it influences the growth, development and prospect of an individual. Jupiter indicates high ambitions, knowledge and accomplishments. It stands for the higher mind, wisdom, enthusiasm, optimism, liberality, and generosity.

Jupiter is believed to influence journeys on foreign seas, world travel, and money and power achieved through great enterprises. Astrologically it also influences the priests, religious teachers, ministers, politicians and all other people with high ambitions. People under the control of Jupiter are cheerful, energetic and harmonious.

If the control of Jupiter goes missing, it leads to pessimism, feelings of inadequacy, depression, and lethargy. Known as the planet of luck, Jupiter is responsible for all the success, fortune, intellect and religious aspects of our lives. Jupiter also is very influential when the general quality of one’s life is concerned.

Jupiter represents Thurs day and the yellow colours. It is regarded as significator for 2nd, 5th and 9th houses. The Sun, Moon and Mars are the natural friends whereas Mercury and Venus are enemies to him.Rahu, Ketu and Saturn adopts neutrality to this Planet. Jupiter stands exalted in the 4th house and the 10th house is the house of his debilitation position.

Jupiter provides good result if placed in houses 1st, 5th, 8th, 9th and 12th but 6th, 7th and the 10th are the bad houses for him. Jupiter gives bad results when Venus or mercury get placed in the 10th house of a horoscope chart. However,Jupiter never gives bad results if placed alone in any house.

A malefic Jupiter affects the Ketu (Son) very adversely. Jupiter offers malefic results if it is placed with Saturn.Rahu or Ketu in a horoscope.

SATURN:

Saturn, the planet whom we look with awe and fear in dreadful way thinking it is a planet which gives misery, sorrow and chronic diseases etc. etc.

But the truth is it is our real friend, it shows us the reality, makes us feel what responsibility is, drives to work for survival, follow rules, gives us long term plan, vision, creates the inclination to serve the mass, the poor, the unprivileged, gives us real spiritual knowledge etc. But we are mistaking our real friend and running in search of comfort, luxury, name, fame and achievement in this material world and finally getting nothing like Alexandar who told that at the time of my death while taking my dead body please keep my hands open on both the sides and let the world knows I had conquered nothing, came in empty hand and leaving the world with empty hand.

Now let us see why we say Saturn is our real friend.

Sun stands for ego, confidence and dominance.
Moon represents mind which changes from moment to moment.
Mercury always applies its mind in different things, calculates, sees perfection etc.
Mars known for its aggressiveness, courage etc.
Jupiter gives knowledge, honesty, righteousness, confidence, optimism.
Venus gives art, creativity, love, relationship, enjoyment etc.
Rahu stands for all materialstic developments.
Ketu stands for aloofness, dissatisfaction, spirituality etc.

None of these planets will show you reality of life. Jupiter comes nearer to it but while showing reality magnifies it with optimism. Rest planets go on their own ways. But Saturn shows you reality. It says that you are made of flesh and bones which is going to decay slowly. You are going to feel hungry, sick etc. you have to reap the fruits of your own karma. Open your eyes, do good work, work hard and take up your own responsibility and do not depend upon others.

We say Saturn Dasa came, its transit came as Sade sati, Dhaya and I am suffering from this disease. But actually Saturn did not cause that disease. This disease was there in your body, it was brewing. Saturn came, triggered the symptoms, it told you go to the doctor, check up your body, take medicine and get cured. So our real friend works for our survival. But we are misunderstanding it.

Similarly, for worries and miseries we are blaming Saturn without any reason. We have done some bad karma in previous births and Saturn is karma Phal data, its work is to give you the fruits of your past karma. Hence how can we blame Saturn for this?

Saturn also saves you from disastrous situation. Suppose you have resigned from job and are relaxing and enjoying the savings. When Saturn transit occurs it will warn you be responsible enough and search for a job otherwise your entire savings will be depleted soon. This makes the person suddenly wake up from dream state and face the reality. So Saturn does not make you miserable but alert you about the impending problem ahead and saves you from that problem.

It is the heaviest planet and second largest planet in the zodiac. It is a planet of slowness. It moves like tortoise but slowly and steadily it reaches to such heights which other planets cannot. Saturn is certainty. One should have the patience to reap the results.

Some people want to cross limit early, but Saturn brings them back and asks them to first crawl, stand and then run. Saturn tells you act on those areas which I have given you and do not cross the boundary. Saturn shows the limitation of a person. One can be a computer expert but cannot be a champion basketball player like Michel Jordan. It also shows Michel Jordan can get 6 NBA medals in basketball but cannot be Bill Gates.

This post is only to know how we grossly misunderstand our real friend, Saturn in life. Friends, no chart discussion please.

The importance of Saturn and Mars
------------------------------------
Saturn and Mars are very important not because of what they give us but how they help us struggle and overcome our own shortcomings in life. They help us to make an inner adjustment and be fulfilled internally.

Mars and Saturn are very important in helping us grow out of our miseries. Saturn helps us struggle through our inner lack, inner demons, lack of happiness, miseries, and Mars helps us to struggle to become stronger, virtuous and upright. If Saturn and Mars are good, you will feel happy even if you lose many things in life.

Saturn makes you realistic and teaches you to search for inner happiness rather than the 5-star luxurious fantasy lifestyle. They help us to renounce our external material desires and focus on the inner battle. If Saturn and Mars are afflicted, people are constantly running around looking for external happiness that is not found and they become more miserable in the long run. These are the 2 key planets which make us a better person.

Ernst Wilhelm said that the gentle planets, Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus keep us alive long enough so we can do the job of Mars and Saturn. They give us enough to live for so we are willing to do the work of Saturn and Mars!

Some techniques to find career/workplace:

1) Look at the sign of 10H and planet that rules it. It shows general nature of career/workplace fit for one’s ascendant. For example if one is a Libra ascendant, career/workplace will have a nature generally related to hospitality, public, or Cancerian/Moon-like minded people. If one is a Cancer ascendant with Mars ruling the 10H in Aries, one’s career/work environment will often be fast-paced and energetic and can be found in nursing or in EMT/paramedic/medical field.

2) Look at the nakshatra lord of the 10L. This shows the specific type/nature of career/workplace. If 10L falls in a Sun-ruled nakshatra (Krittika, Uttara Phalguni, or Uttara Ashadha), one will have an administrative type of career/workplace or one related to self-expression. This can be related to government, religion, teaching, acting, etc.

3) Look at the house where 10L is placed in. It shows physical environment/type of things one sees in one’s workplace/career. If 10L falls into the 2H, one’s career may involve food and beverage, finances, own family, speaking, etc. depending on relationship with 10L and its nakshatra lord. For example if 10L Mercury falls into 2H in Libra, career environment will be more relevant to finances than food.

4) Look at the other house lords involved with where 10L is sitting. This shows what other areas of life are involved in one’s career/workplace. If 7L is sitting/conjunct with the 10L, one’s career/workplace will be connected to other people/masses of people, partnerships, or legal negotiations depending on 7L placement.

5) Look at what other house the 10L co-rules. This shows what the career/workplace will naturally be interconnected to. If one is a Capricorn ascendant with Venus ruling the 10H and co-ruling the 5H, one can often find career in the entertainment industry depending on condition of Venus and 5H/5L.

These techniques can also be applied to the 2H (self-earned income) as well as 6H (routine work/job)

Rahu & Ketu(Nodes)Maya & Mukti(Obsession, attachments, unfinished duties and desires, are base attributes of Rahu and ketu is the collective hard drive of our past lifetime accumulated merits and demerits and areas of life which we have experienced in previous lifetimes and the soul is expert in the ketu influenced areas and thus it experiences detachment in such houses and planets matters where ketu is attached). So the axis of node in specific houses denotes the ultimate Misson of present life a soul has to progress as Rahu stands for present learning and experiencing and moving towards the highest level of progression in areas so all interests and attachments will be with that specific house and the ketu will suppresse the house and planets associated with it and only Jupiter or venus's aspects or attachments with ketu can bring some relief on ketu influenced house as its a signal of positivity but it will not give smooth progress as ketu is the settlement of karmic dues a soul has to pay out in form of losses, pains, unacessable situations of houses ketu is placed and ketu's area's cannot be neutralise by any remedy as its the karmic bill a native has to clear in order to progress in advance stage of souls journey and its always wise to except, understand and act accordingly will save wasteage of time, energy so to lead the meaningful life we all need to check out the depositors of both nodes as Rahu's depositor is guide and path indicator whereas ketu's depositor will act as obstructive force and tests of present life a native has to face.
As this is the prime area of everyone's life which cannot be ignored as there will be no direction in life.So all Astro Enthusiastics should focus on nodes, there depositors, there dignity to analyse the souls journey and possibilities of good and bad can be figured out and the area of free will which can neutralise or modify the karmic backlogs.

Sun & Rahu both are cousin brother :-
Children of Aditi & Ditti
Aditi was the daughter of Daksha, and married Kashyapa, son of Marichi, and grandson of Brahma. Aditi’s sisters were Diti, Kala, Danayus, Danu, Simhika, Krodha, Pradha, Vishwa, Vinata, Kapila, Muni and Kadru, according to Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 66 verse 12.The devas were the sons of Aditi and Kashyapa. That is why they’re also called Aditeyas. Kashyapa also married her sisters, and from them were born all of the world’s living beings.

Aditi had 33 sons, of which twelve were Dwadashadityas – Dhata, Aryama, Mitra, Shakra, Varuna, Ansha, Bhaga, Vivasvan, Pusha, Savita, Twashta and Vishnu. According to Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 65 verse 15, of the remaining, 11 were rudras and 8 were vasus.

Vishnu was born to Aditi as Vamana. The story of this birth was told by Vishwamitra to Rama and Lakshmana while they were traveling through the jungles, in the context of an ashram’s importance. When they visited the ashram, Vishwamitra told them that this was the place where Vishnu was born as Vamana. When Virochana’s son Mahabali conducted a yajna, the devas were frightened of the powers he was amassing and requested Vishnu to end the yajna. At the same time, Aditi was praying for Vishnu to be born as her son. According to Mahabharata Vanaparva Chapter 272 verse 62, Anushasanaparva Chapter 83 verses 25-26 and Ramayana Sarga 29, Vamana was born to her a thousand years later.

Once Kashyapa decided to conduct a yajna. While all the other arrangements were completed, he couldn’t get a suitable cow. He finally stole Varuna’s cow and conducted the yajna, and refused to give it back even after the yajna was completed. An enraged Varuna reached Kashyapa’s ashram, but he wasn’t there. Kashyapa’s wives Aditi and Surasa didn’t accord Varuna the desired respect. He cursed that they would be born in Gokul. Varuna then complained to Brahma. Brahma called Kashyapa and told him that since he had stolen the cow, he and his wives would be born in Gokul and would have to tend to cows. According to Devibhagavata Skanda 4, this was why, in the 28th Dwaparayuga, Kashyapa, Aditi and Surasa were born as Vasudeva, Devaki and Rohini respectively. This story was told to Janamejaya by Vyasa.

Thus Aditi was born as Devaki. There’s a reason why Devaki had to stay in prison at Kamsa’s command. Kashyapa, Aditi and Diti used to stay in an ashram. Aditi used to tend to all of Kashyapa’s needs and he was pleased enough to grant her a boon. Aditi wanted a perfect son and Kashyapa agreed. Thus Indra was born to Aditi. Diti was jealous and asked Kashyapa for a son who equaled Indra. Kashyapa agreed to this too and Diti became pregnant. As her pregnancy progressed, Diti began to glow and Aditi was afraid that she’d have a son who would surpass Indra. One day Aditi called Indra and told him that once Diti’s child was born, it was possible that Indra would be relegated to being second in terms of importance, and therefore he should do something about it. Indra approached Diti and told her that he was there to tend to her needs. Diti was happy to hear this and soon fell asleep. Indra managed to get into Diti’s womb and cut her unborn child into 49 pieces. As it was being cut, the child began to cry. Indra kept saying ma ruta (don’t cry). The child escaped the womb as 49 marutas (vayu) Diti woke up, learned the facts and cursed Aditi that since her child had been killed by treachery, Indra would lose his control over the three worlds, and since Aditi was responsible for this, she would not only have to stay in prison and pine for her child, but her children would die too. According to Devibhagavata Skanda 4, it was because of this curse that Indra lost his position to Nahusha, and when Aditi was born as Devaki, she was imprisoned by Kamsa and her children were killed by him too.

Narakasura once obtained a boon from Vishnu and began tormenting all the three worlds. He even attacked devaloka, and stole Indra’s golden umbrella and Aditi’s ear rings. According to Mahabharata Udyogaparva Chapter 48 verse 80, Sabhaparva Chapter 38 verse 29 and Bhagavata Dashamaskanda, Vishnu incarnated as Krishna, defeated Narakasura and retrieved the stolen material.

According to Mahabharata Aranyaparva Chapter 135 verse 3, Aditi once cooked rice in the interiors of the Mainaka mountains as part of an offering to get children. After the Mahabharata war, when Yudhishtira praises Krishna – Mahabharata Shantiparva Chapter 43 verse 6, he mentions that Vishnu was born to Aditi seven times.

When the asuras started became stronger, the devas were perturbed. Aditi decided to send all the devas to annihilate the asuras. She prepared rice for them. When it was ready Budha approached her for some food. She replied that the rice had been prepared for the devas because they were going to war, and Budha could have some only after they had finished their meal. According to Mahabharata Shantiparva Chapter 343 verse 96-98, Budha cursed that when Vivasvan would be born as Anda, Aditi would be his mother and she’d suffer from stomach pains then.

Before the time of Swayambhumanu, a prajapati called Supatas and his wife Prishni meditated for twelve thousand years. Vishnu appeared before them and they asked for a child like Vishnu to be born to them. Vishnu was subsequently born to Prishni as Prishnigarbha. According to Bhagavata Dashamaskanda Chapter 3, this was told by Krishna to Devaki during his birth. Prishni, Aditi and Devaki were all incarnations of the same person.
In this way Rahu & Sun ,(Aditya ) both are cousin brother.

Friends/Members today I would like to share my experiences regarding the planet venus which is the universal 2nd house lord of accumulated wealth, savings bank balance, speech and it's also the Lord of 7th house of spouse, business and partnerships, contracts or bonds, balance factors in life, materialistic possession or wealth, luxurious, artistic or creative talents, business sense and it has major roles in sexual activities or s***m cells male natives, hence if venus is badly placed in enemy or debilitated sign in D-1 or any concerned divisional charts than i have observed that standards of living is badly influenced as this may be a results of previous karmic backlogs for man/women both, due to reason of ill treatment towards the spouse or using the material blessed wealth in unethical directions of life or being too much proud or wealth centric and leading a life of absolute materialistic minded man/women and keeping the humanity and duties aside so whenever venus is badly placed like debilitated, combusted, enemy sign its a warning bell to keep our materialistic desires in control otherwise it can make the life hell and best remedy is to keep your spouse happy with justified boundaries and worshipping lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is highly auspicious to keep the life meaningful.
