UPI continues to remain free for consumers. Person-to-person (P2P) payments remain completely free, while person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions up to ₹2,000 continue with zero MDR.

For specified merchant transactions above ₹2,000, MDR is applicable on the merchant side—not to UPI users. UPI MDR helps support the technology, infrastructure and operations needed to keep the UPI ecosystem running smoothly and sustainably.

GFF Day 2!

Today, we launched bill payments on the Multipl Spending Account, in partnership with NPCI Bharat BillPay, at Global Fintech Fest 2026.

This comes a day after we launched Spending Account with UPI at GFF and it takes the same idea further. Utility bills, mobile, broadband, DTH, gas, water, and credit card payments are a big chunk of monthly spends, and that money usually just sits idle until it’s paid out. We wanted to change that.

Now, users can pay these bills directly while their money stays invested in liquid mutual funds until the moment it’s needed. When a payment is initiated, the amount is redeemed and routed through BBPS in a single flow, no separate steps, no manual tracking.
