I used to think good trading meant being right more often.

Trading at a Proprietary Trading Firm taught me that trading is less about predicting the market and more about managing risk.

While trading at Axella, I learnt some lessons that completely changed how I approach the markets:

• Protect capital before chasing returns.
• Being right about direction doesn’t guarantee a profitable trade.
• Not every market move needs a trade.
• One bad trade can undo many good ones.
• Conviction doesn’t make you right — always know where you’re wrong.
• Overtrading is often emotion disguised as opportunity.
• Consistency is boring, but that’s the point.

The biggest shift for me was going from:

“How do I predict the market?”

to:

“How do I manage uncertainty?”

You can’t control what the market does.

You can control your risk.

If you’re new to trading, learn risk management before learning another indicator.

Because you can’t compound what you don’t have.
