Even if you are lucky enough to get a 6% interest rate for your savings account, it would still take 12 years to reach a lakh!

When and why should you keep money in a savings account?

Use it to store your emergency fund or money you'll need in a few months for something like a down payment on a house. These accounts are meant for money to be spent, not to build wealth.

You don’t build wealth by putting money in a savings account. You build wealth by investing part of every paycheck and letting time and compounding work for you.
