ðŸ“Ē Notification No. 29/2023–Central Tax dated July 31, 2023

✔ïļThe Central Government, under Section 148 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, notifies a special procedure for filing appeals against orders passed by the proper officer under Sections 73 or 74.
✔ïļThe appeal shall be made manually in duplicate, in the specified form, without the need for depositing any amount. An acknowledgement of the appeal will be issued, and a summary of the order will be provided by the Appellate Authority

ðŸ“Ē *Madras High Court's Important Ruling: No ITC if Tax Unpaid to Government*

✔ïļ The court ruled that a registered person is not entitled to Input Tax Credit (ITC) if the tax has not been paid to the government, even if the company has paid the amount to the supplier.

✔ïļThe court clarified that the company could recover the amount paid to the supplier through legal means, such as suing the supplier or negotiating a settlement.
