THE PRODUCT ISN'T THE STRATEGY.
This is one of the most important concepts when evaluating a Specialised Investment Fund (SIF).
Different strategies can have very different objectives, portfolios and risk characteristics.
So instead of asking:
“Which SIF should I buy?”
Start with:
“Which strategy fits my portfolio?”
THE 4-STEP SELECTION FRAMEWORK
1️⃣ OBJECTIVE
Growth? Diversification? Tactical exposure? Risk management?
2️⃣ STRATEGY
Understand how the fund intends to generate returns.
3️⃣ RISK
Understand drawdowns, leverage/short exposure where applicable, concentration and volatility.
4️⃣ PORTFOLIO ROLE
Know what the allocation is supposed to do alongside your existing investments.
💡 DID YOU KNOW?
The same ₹10 lakh invested in two different strategies can create very different portfolio outcomes because the underlying approach matters.
⚠️ CONTROVERSIAL MYTH:
“Maximum benefit means maximum return.”
Not necessarily.
For a portfolio, “benefit” could also mean diversification, tactical exposure, downside management or a specific strategic objective.
ADORN EDGE QUESTION
When selecting a specialised strategy, what would you analyse first?
🎯 Objective
📊 Strategy
⚖️ Risk
🧩 Portfolio fit
Urgency Trigger:
The cost of choosing the wrong strategy can be much higher than the cost of taking time to understand it.
