Really Interesting Article... Definitely agree with it and try and use this school of thought in sleep work:
"Instead of shutting down emotions, we reach out and try to understand what they are experiencing. We ask if they are OK instead of telling them they are OK. We empathize with them often."
We can teach our children resilience, empathy, and compassion by modeling those behaviors with them. And most importantly, we stop gaslighting them. We stop telling them to buck up. We stop telling them that they are overreacting, being too sensitive, or crying for no reason.
