2020 might have been a bit of a rocky year for real estate in Israel. But now post pandemic the real estate prices are right back to shooting up as they were before.

"Real estate prices in Israel have risen by an average of 36 percent over the past 10 years, and by over 50 percent in some cities. This was recently reported by the Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot, which tasked a leading real estate appraiser with assessing the situation."

Despite all the dangers in and around Israel, housing prices are rising in the country. The disputed land in the Holy Land is scarce.

While working on the Midtown Jerusalem project workers found cisterns from the Ottoman Empire underground. The water cisterns will be kept as a piece of the history of Jerusalem's beautiful real estate.

"The Bank of Israel is targeting real estate investors as a way of cooling the housing market and is looking to the Ministry of Finance as a partner in the plan. At yesterday's press conference after the interest rate announcement, Bank of Israel Governor Prof. Amir Yaron floated the idea of raising purchase tax on apartments for investment, two weeks after prohibiting banks from granting mortgages taken on an existing home to be used to buy another home."

"Israelis continue to buy homes in record numbers. The volume of mortgages taken in Israel reached an all-time high NIS 11.6 billion in June, the Bank of Israel said Sunday".

June's total is more than 20% higher than May's total, which was itself a record, and is nearly twice as much as was borrowed in February 2020, on the eve of the pandemic.
