With entire economies reimagined through blockchain technologies, the concept of Value becomes more and more crucial. The inherent value of most digital assets has been analysed and disputed fervently by builders, investors, and financiers alike. Clearly, crypto and blockchain protocols are creating tremendous value across the ecosystem, and the growth of the associated market is substantial.
With the rise of decentralized finance, the importance of stability across assets has been enormous. Stable assets have enabled a variety of use-cases and incentive models including yield farming, lending, and more. However, stability across assets like Dai has been recently contested and undermined, and the lack of relative decentralization in other stable assets like USDC and USDT has been problematic.
In our latest essay, we deconstruct the value of money and analyse the value of stability across emerging economies powered by blockchain. I'm excited to share our thoughts about this growing ecosystem, as well as lessons learned from the growth of historically crucial assets like gold and the US Dollar.
