A little while ago, I had a conversation that stayed with me.
A client told me about her mother, who was diagnosed with cancer.
Every three weeks, she needs a medication that costs close to 30,000₪ per month.
This medication is not included in the Israeli health basket
and not covered by Kupat Holim.
Her mother, who has private health insurance receives treatment at the hospital and there, in the department,
women are literally sitting and waiting.
Waiting for donations of life-saving medication because they don’t have private health insurance.
This is not a rare story.
This is happening right now, in Israel.
What’s most painful is knowing that if private health insurance had been arranged on time, a policy that costs just a few shekels a month when you’re healthy,
the medication could have been covered.
Private health insurance doesn’t replace Kupat Holim.
It protects you when the system can’t.
We don’t buy insurance because we expect to need it tomorrow.
We buy it because when tomorrow comes, it’s already too late.
If you’re healthy today, that’s exactly the time to check your coverage.
For yourself. For your parents. For the people you love.
If you’re not sure what you have, or if it’s enough, reach out to me.
A short conversation today can make an unimaginable difference tomorrow.
