With the arrival of warm weather after a wet May, Agriland is urging farmers to prioritise fly control on their herds this week to keep animals healthy.
Flies thrive in warm conditions, especially following heavy rain.

As temperatures rise, flies and insects will multiply and become hard to control and can cause infections in your herd such as summer mastitis.

In terms of prevention, Agriland recommends the use of teat sealers as one effective method.

For more information on how to treat or prevent summer mastitis, check out Agriland's article on 'Fly control as warm front rolls in'.

If you have identified other areas on the farm that need investment to prioritise herd health, contact us today to discuss Cultivate's farmer friendly finance options. Call 066 71 22373 or click https://www.caracreditunion.ie/our-services/credit-union-loans/our-loan-types/cultivate-farming-loan/

With a reputation score of 81.7, credit unions were one of only two organisations to achieve an ‘Excellent’ rating.

We had a wonderful time visiting the Scotia Probus Ladies Club last week. It was a pleasure to chat with the group about Cara Credit Union — the services we offer, the unique insurance benefits available, the importance of nomination's on accounts and how we’re here for our members both online on face to face. That personal touch is something we’re truly proud of.

A huge thank you to Kay and everyone at Scotia Probus Ladies Club for such a warm and friendly welcome.

This week sees the beginning of the breeding season for many Irish farmers.
Writing in Agriland, Cathal O'Shea makes an important point that taking your eye off the ball for even a day or two can be costly for a missed heat.

There's been an influx of farms investing in heat detection technology in recent years to reduce labour and ensure the breeding window isn't missed.

If this breeding season has highlighted gaps in your own setup, whether that's collars, tags or monitoring technology, now is the time to plan ahead for next year.

Cultivate can help you invest in the heat detection technology that saves you time, reduces farm labour and ensures the breeding season is a successful one.
