Helen Ahern retires after 20 years’ service at Midleton CU’s Carrigtwohill branch

Helen Ahern today retired after 20 years as a member of staff at Midleton Credit Union’s Carrigtwohill branch. Helen started working with Midleton CU in May 2006 and for the past two decades has become a familiar face to countless members in Carrigtwohill. Working closely alongside fellow Carrigtwohill staff member, Teresa Cashman, Helen says she will greatly miss meeting the members each week, having a chat and sharing community news.

MIDLETON CU ART COMPETITION 'A WORLD OF COLOUR' NOW OPEN WITH EXCITING NEWS FOR 2026

The Midleton Credit Union 2026 Art Competition is now open for entries and it’s your moment to shine! Open to everyone, the theme this year is ‘A World Of Colour’ and we’re already expecting a spectacular array of artistic talent to be on show. All entries should be A3 in size and landscape in orientation and the closing date for entries is Friday, October 16th, 2026. Entries (with full contact details) can be handed in to either of Midleton Credit Union’s branches in Midleton and Carrigtwohill.

There are some exciting changes to this year’s competition with all winners set to be featured in the 2027 Midleton Credit Union wall calendar. They’ll all receive complimentary calendar copies, alongside their goodie bags and prizes. And we’ll also be featuring the winning entries on the walls of Midleton Credit Union, joining the existing 2024 and 2025 winners as part of a permanent exhibition.

With over 1,500 entries received in 2025, judging was incredible tough so, this year, we’re introducing a new prize category: Staff Picks. This will allow us to honour even more artistic talent in East Cork, whilst also stopping some office arguments!

The competition is open to all ages, with previous winners ranging from age 3 to age 85!

To find out more, please call us on 021 4631073 or visit www.midletoncu.ie/forms for a full list of competition Do’s & Don’ts as well as the usual T&Cs.
