Remote Working Grey Areas

Hailed as the great new beginning of how we work – 14 months later does the future of remote working throw up more questions than answers?

Now as the dust (slowly) begins to settle, the re-opening of schools, vaccination etc. how will the re-opening/resuming of business’s affect remote working.

Like anything new and different there was undoubtedly an excitement factor to home working, it was a novelty, different a change.

But as the pandemic and lockdown continued questions of home working came to the fore:

· Suitability of office space – kitchen table?
· Productivity levels?
· Working longer hours?
· Zoom overkill?
· Health & Safety – whose responsibility?
· Suitable equipment to conduct work?
· Managing Remote Workers?
· Isolation from work colleagues?
· Emotional/Mental Wellbeing in Isolation?
· Blurring the lines between work & home life?
· New employees – lack of interaction?
· Distractions?
· Training/Mentoring from a distance?

The next few months will possibly see the ‘real’ future of remote working

Remote working – still a lot of grey areas
