☀️ Heat Warning this week.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow high temperature warning for the entire country this week, with temperatures forecast to reach 30°C on Thursday.

DAFM is advising farmers to check livestock more frequently in the heat and watch for signs of heat stress, including panting, loss of appetite and crowding at water points. Make sure water points are filled and accessible.

The European Commission is proposing to replace the current BISS entitlements system with a new per hectare payment scheme, provisionally called DABIS. IFJ reports a baseline rate of €130 to €240 per hectare, but how it lands for individual farms is still being worked out.

Such changes can cause uncertainty for farmers, making it difficult to plan. If there's a farm investment you've been putting off, it might be worth looking at your options before the picture changes further.
