I posted a blog two years ago drawing attention to the destructive effect of inflation on household savings, and suggesting how a family might consider investing some of those savings to protect it's purchasing power.

I thought it useful to re-post the blog because it's message has not changed.

Inflation however has changed, a lot. The effects of Covid, the war in Ukraine and flawed government energy policy has driven inflation to levels not seen in decades.

I'm open to discussion on building robust family financial plans and protecting hard earned savings.

Focusing on past performance tells you little about the future. Looking at the data, we see that the top stocks rarely stay on top. Diversification - owning little bits of a LOT of companies - is a key component of our investment philosophy.

As companies grow into some of the largest firms, the returns that push them there can be impressive. But not long after joining the Top 10 biggest by market cap, these stocks, on average, lagged the market.
