The Cottage Club

The Cottage Club READING FOR FUN The Cottage Club is a bookclub and library in the village of Dunhill. We read stories and talk about books we've read or want to read.

The kids bring home a book each time and tell me all about it at the next meeting. All money we get in goes straight back into buying new books and when the book club is finished with them we will create a childrens library.

Really really enjoying being back in the cottage, sitting by the fire reading stories and getting lots of lovely pictures to put on the wall. At the moment we're doing space, so we have planets,stars, spaceships and Aliens in Underpants oh yeh, ask the kids they know all about them :)

The Any Excuse To Get Out Of The House For An Hour Or Two Club met on Friday and yes for all the sceptics out there books were actually discussed. Emma picked this months books which are J.K. Rowling The Casual Vacancy (available in tesco for €10) and Maeve Binchy Nights of Rain and Stars (also available for €4.95) pick one or pick two , enjoy and hope to see you all 2nd November in Harneys at 8.30 . CONGRATULATIONS !! to Carmel who won the top prize in the raffle today which was not one but two nights B&B and a three course meal at The River Lee Hotel in Cork, enjoy !! Many thanks to Paul and the Hotel for that wonderful prize :)

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to the coffee morning it was a great success and we now have a good kick start to the bookclub which starts next week. I would also like to thank all the mum's and dads who delivered chislers to the cottage club throughout the year, I know its not easy being on the road with lots of activities, your support is greatly appreciated ( probably because I enjoy it as much as the kids )... Just a reminder for the coffee morning in Harneys this Weds 9.30 - 12.00. There will be coffee , cake , info and a raffle. The last draw of the raffle will be for one night B&B with three course meal at the River Lee Hotel in Cork ( nice for some xmas shopping ) ! :)

Thanks to everyone who came to the first adult bookclub last night, I really enjoyed it. For those who couldn't make it , we picked two books Sinead Moriarty - The Baby Trail and James Ellroy - The Black Dahlia which ever one grabs your fancy some bookworms are reading both, we meet back in Harneys the first Friday in October at 8.30 hope to see you there !!
