🏆 Congratulations to Thorntons Recycling sponsored rider Matthew Walls on winning the Meath Road Race Championship last night! 🚴‍♂️💨

The victory is the perfect final tune-up ahead of the National Championships this weekend, where Matthew will compete in the Time Trial on Thursday and the Road Race on Sunday.

We’d also like to wish the very best of luck to fellow Thorntons Recycling sponsored rider Conn McDunphy, who goes into the championships as one of the leading contenders in both the Elite Time Trial and Road Race events.

🌱 From Brown Bin to Blooming Gardens 🌱

What happens to the food and garden waste collected in your brown bin?

Last month, Thorntons Recycling was delighted to provide compost for an event hosted by the Friends of Rathcore Church in Co. Meath, where renowned organic gardener Klaus Laitenberger spoke to a capacity audience about growing your own fruit, vegetables and herbs.

Guests were invited to take home a bag of compost produced from brown bin collections, helping turn everyday food and garden waste into a valuable resource for local communities.

It’s a simple example of the circular economy in action – waste collected from homes, transformed into nutrient-rich compost, and returned to support gardens, community projects and local growing initiatives.

Thank you to the Friends of Rathcore Church, Percy Foster, and the Meath Topic for sharing these wonderful photos, and best of luck with the ongoing restoration of this historic community space.

♻️ What goes in your brown bin doesn’t go to waste.

♻️ Circular Economy in Action 🌼

It’s great to see the compost created from household brown bin collections being put to good use in local communities.

We recently supplied Tallaght Tidy Towns with a pallet of Thorntons Recycling compost, produced at our composting facility from food and garden waste collected from households across the region.

The team has been busy replanting flower boxes around Tallaght, helping to brighten the town while demonstrating how food and garden waste can be transformed into a valuable resource.

What starts in your brown bin can come full circle as nutrient-rich compost used by community groups, local farmers and gardeners.

A big thank you to the volunteers at Tallaght Tidy Towns for all their hard work in keeping the community looking its best. 🌱
