Hi folks,
We hope that everyone is keeping safe and managing as best that can be expected in the current unfortunate circumstances that we have found ourselves in.
Since the lockdown started we have seen an increase in both business interruption claims and fire damage claims.
Businesses which have ceased to trade or suffered a significant drop off in trading levels as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic have been in touch with us. We have been able to review policy cover, provide advice in relation to same, and liaise with insurers in respect of their claims. Unfortunately, not all policies provide cover for the losses that have been suffered but for those that do and also for those where there is a "grey area" or the policy cover is not specific we are engaging with insurers. If you have suffered a loss and would like us to review your cover then contact us on the number or email address at the bottom of this post.
Fires are another peril which we have seen an increase in over the recent weeks. With so many people permanently at home, some electrical installations and appliances have been struggling to cope with the additional loading they have been placed under. We have seen fires from appliances, electrical circuitry and as a result of accidental damage. We also note the very unfortunate forest fire in the Carlingford peninsula which fire fighters have been bravely battling over the past few days. Many homes in the area have been affected as a result of the large volume of smoke in the area.
We would recommend to not overload sockets, turn off switches when appliances are not in use, try not to run multiple appliances concurrently, do not leave phones, tablets, smart watches, etc plugged in and unattended and never put on your dishwasher, washing machine or drier at night or when leaving the home.
If your property is in the vicinity of a fire then be sure to close all windows and doors until the fire has been extinguished and the resultant smoke has dissipated.
If you have suffered a loss or damage to your business or property as result of the Covid-19 pandemic, fires, or any other peril which insurance policies cover (pipe leak, oil damage, break-in, theft, etc.) then don't hesitate to contact us on 01 690 2007 or email [email protected].
We are on hand to provide advice and, if necessary, handle your claim with your insurer on your behalf.
The blaze broke out in the Rockmarshall area yesterday afternoon.
