A quick visit to the dealership in Monaghan and there it was — a Scania, apparently the undisputed king of the transport world. 👑🚛

I only went to help a customer purchase their next truck, but within five minutes I was walking around it like I had just won the lottery. There is something about a Scania that gets drivers, hauliers and even finance people far more excited than grown adults should admit.

Still, the real buzz is helping a customer get the right truck to grow their business and keep the wheels turning.

Scania drivers — is it genuinely the king of the road, or are you all just very good at marketing?

Think a silage trailer is just a big box on wheels? That was my thinking too — fill it with grass, drive away and try not to end up in the neighbour’s hedge. But there is far more science behind choosing the right trailer than most people realise.

This Smyth Fieldmaster is one we recently financed, and farmers will be checking everything from stability on steep ground and the quality of the chassis and welds, to tyre width, load balance and overall capacity. Then there is the less exciting but equally important stuff: brakes, lights, visibility and making sure it is safe when moving between fields and travelling on the road.

The tractor sold for €67,000.

But that is not the full story, because auction hammer prices are only the starting point.

According to the European buyer fee table, because this tractor sold between €12,000 and €75,000, the buyer transaction fee is 4.85%.

So on €67,000, that adds roughly €3,250.

That brings the real auction price to about €70,250, before transport or any other costs.

Now, if this is being exported correctly, there may be no VAT on the tractor price, which makes the number even more interesting.

This 2021 Massey Ferguson 8S.205 has now officially sold for €67,000.

Considering a tractor like this was roughly €160,000 plus VAT new, that sounds like a serious drop.

So the question is — was this a bargain, or was there something in the spec, hours, condition, or market that kept the price down?

Folks, we're in the middle of the Ritchie Bros. UK auction right now. I'm following along, and we're looking at these three. So these three, forklifts, all I've done is copied this, then I've popped it into AI, and it's telling me... I've asked historically for the prices. So it's kinda saying that they would've started this machine...

What are the approximate prices now? So they would've started at 30 to 35, and they're saying that roughly today they should be going in and around 14 and a half to 16. So, hey, does that seem like a bargain? So that's what we're looking at. This one has gone for five, seven. The next one's gone for six.

And that went for six grand. So still well within what they're saying is a decent price. This one now will go-- We'll see what it goes for. 29 seconds left. Anything between... Oh, well this is sterling obviously, and what I'm getting is the euro price. Okay.

Yes, please give us as much detail as you can. Is this a way to do it if you're new to the marketplace?

And what sort of hours do these ones have? 2,000. So we're seeing will this go for six grand? Is that a decent price for a 2019? You It's the only way you gotta start learning, folks. And that one closed for 6,000. Of course, the people who know what they're at will know what these prices are, and you have to study them in order to be able to get a good idea of what's going on.
