Democratic Unionist Party of the Republic of Ireland

Democratic Unionist Party of the Republic of Ireland The partial Irish Independence experiment failed. Corrupt, incompetent & deluded leaders have bankru We need friends now, and Britain is our friend. B O'Neill

In 2011 we welcomed the Queen of the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic and apart from some ultra republicans it was a celebration and a peaceful affair for all concerned. It was also a time, when we as a nation should have begun in earnest "Thinking the Unthinkable" in questioning the value in rejoining the union with Britain. We have lost our sovereignty and are effe

ctively bankrupt as a country - not just financially but also in hope, ideas and in a sense of who we are as a nation. Our leaders are clueless about how we can get out of this situation still believing that the endeavour of monetary union with an uncaring Franco-German axis of power, somehow will save us. However it is this monetary union which created the conditions of our ruinous "Celtic Tiger", removed all economic and political mechanisms to correct it and finally will ultimately kill our nation with the debt medicine forced down our collective necks. Unfortunately our leaders have striven - in some delinquent sense of inferiority complex inherited from our colonial days - to "prove" we are as good a nation as anyone else. But in doing that and disassociating us from our nearest neighbours, we have been led over the cliff of the EMU in a blatant political attempt to "prove we are as good as the Brits". But it has failed - for the simple reason that we share far more in common with Britain than any other culture or country (including the United States). We share language, culture and indeed genes with our nearest neighbours who are our largest trading partner. We share an island with them and judicial, economic and cultural systems. In short we have much more in common than not and deep down everyone knows that. Not the imperialist Britain of a hundred years ago or the aggressive "Gall" of our last eight hundred years, but a peaceful, prosperous modern, important country who may just also need us, in the years ahead. So we in the Democratic Unionist Party of Ireland (dup.ie) are Thinking The Unthinkable, and which may just have already happened....

So unless you have a better idea??????

Just leaving this here.

Just leaving this here.

The RoI left our Union in 1922 after 121 years of being part of the family. We should now ask them to reconsider their position within both the UK & EU as a way of solving the current impasse over the Irish border issue that is holding up the Withdrawal Agreement. Britain & Ireland stronger together

FFS! If you hold an opinion, any opinion, do the research. Be willing to work to understand the issues, see the other side and don't think our tiny mind is the centre of the universe. LISTEN,
THINK,

Jody Corcoran - a high profile journalist of the Irish independent has just written this pile insulting rámeis in Ireland's best selling newspaper.
The ignorance of history or scholarly research is one thing but the arrogance of his latent racism against non-pure races (Non Irish - English, Anglo-Irish and Protestant is in the subtext) is quite another. Substitute his word 'native' with 'white' or 'German" and read again.

And someone should tell Jody whatever about his complete lack of historical competence or journalistic integrity that even his modern day premise is flawed as Sinn Fein arose from also from the anti-treaty side who split when Dev entered the Dáil with FF. Does that make Sinn Fein even more so the "embodiment of the native spirit" as they represent the 32 counties?

Utter 20th century Irish "Gaelic revival" anti British racist rubbish of the worst kind.

"...The origins of the divide between Fianna Fail and Fine Gael are more profound than those which emerged after the civil war.
Historians have argued it goes back further than that, to the different traditions linked to the arrival in Ireland of Anglo-Norman and new English to clash with the 'native' Gaelic people.
Fianna Fail is the embodiment of that native spirit; it is entwined in the DNA of our people. In a way, Fianna Fail is Ireland and Ireland is Fianna Fail.
That is what needs to be understood, first and foremost - and above all other issues - when we come to examine the result of this election...."
