“Every four years we tell ourselves we won’t get sucked in. Then suddenly we’re watching four matches a day, arguing about VAR, and cheering for whoever is playing England.”

Ireland may not be at this year’s World Cup, but for many of us the tournament still holds a special place in our hearts. It’s about more than football; it’s about memories. David O’Leary’s penalty, Ray Houghton’s lopping shot, and Robbie Keane’s dramatic late equaliser. Packed pubs, family gatherings and summers we’ll never forget.

Read our latest article on the Spry Hub about why the World Cup still captures the imagination of the Irish public – even when the Boys in Green aren’t there. https://www.spryfinance.ie/spry-hub/ireland-arent-at-the-world-cup-but-heres-why-well-still-be-watching/

Here’s why we’ll still be watching. The fixture list appears. The wall charts come out. The office sweepstake is drawn. The conversations begin.

With the mercury set to top 29C, keeping cool in the sun is important – and for many of us that means ice cream! ☀️🍦

So we’ve taken a trip back in time to rate the frozen treats that defined Irish summers – the ones burned into your memory from seaside trips, the sidelines at GAA blitzes, and those rare evenings when Ireland actually felt hot.

Some are absolute legends. Some divided opinion. All of them come with strong nostalgia and sticky fingers.

The Guinness Choir is celebrating 75 years of singing, friendship and community – and you have the chance to be part of it…

Since 1951, the choir has brought generations of people together through music, and this milestone is being marked in style, with the world premiere concert of The City of Our Dreaming at St Patrick’s Cathedral on May 7.

This brand new choral piece – inspired by Dublin and her people – is a specially commissioned collaboration between the poet Paula Meehan and composer Seán Doherty.

There will also be a special reception will be held at the Mansion House on April 28 to honour the choir’s contribution to Dublin life.

Spry Finance is proud to support The Guinness Choir. Learn more about Paula and Seán’s remarkable collaboration, and get ticket information for the choir’s 75th anniversary events here: https://www.spryfinance.ie/spry-hub/the-guinness-choirs-75th-anniversary/
