WHAT WE DO

The Malting Company of Ireland Limited has been producing the highest quality malted grains since 1858. As the leading Irish-owned maltings, we pride ourselves on providing a range of high quality, whole-grain Irish Malted Barley products to the brewing and distilling industry. HERITAGE & TRADITION

We at MCI can trace our heritage back to Beamish & Crawford’s old floor maltings, situa

ted in the heart of Cork city, on the banks of the river Lee. While geographically only moving a few miles further south the advances in technology over the years are impressive. EXPERTISE

Our malt is produced in our modern state of the art maltings in Cork. Under the watchful eyes of our committed staff, the barley is steeped in water from our own wells before being germinated under carefully controlled conditions. This process allows the barley to produce the highest quality malt which maintains the natural goodness and provenance of every grain. QUALITY & CUSTOMER FOCUS

Rigorous quality checks are carried out at every stage of the process from barley supply, through to malt delivery. Our dedicated quality assurance team carries out thorough analysis in our on-site laboratory to ensure that we achieve a level of quality and consistency on which our customers have learned to rely.

Some Growers go the extra mile while getting financial support from our DAFM environmental schemes.

The malting grain contract field margins were a sight to behold yesterday evening. Never seen such bee’s and butterflys in action before.

Congratulations to Barry Good our South Cork Regional award winner of the 2024 Malting Barley Competition 🏆

📍 Barry farms in Ballinvologe in Minane Bridge with his wife Lorraine and two daughters Sienna and Serena.

The farms proximity to the coast lends itself to excellent malting barley production. Beans are grown for a break crop, followed by a Winter Wheat and then Malting barley, an ideal rotation and proving to be very successful as he farms crops that suit his sites ✅
